RED LIGHT ENFORCEMENT
Red light running problem
In 2003, a study conducted by the University of Alabama in conjunction with the University Transportation Center for Alabama (UCTA) reported that for the year 2000 there were more than 1.8 million motor vehicle crashes at intersections each year. Of these 106,000 were Red Light Running crashes that caused 89,000 injuries and 1,036 deaths.
Red light running enforcement
Conventional red light enforcement camera systems detect vehicles using induction loops buried under the road surface in each traffic lane. They also require physical connection to the traffic light controller system to sense the traffic light phase. Many older cameras use standard photographic processes (wet film) to capture images of vehicles running red lights. Wet film magazines have limited capacity and must be physically loaded and unloaded. Enforcement agencies typically experience difficulty in identifying number plates on 40% or more of these photographs
Vidimon® revolution
Vidimon® revolutionizes the red light enforcement camera technology by introducing a proven state of the art red light digital evidence camera system that may be upgraded to provide comprehensive, non-invasive traffic enforcement and monitoring solutions. Low system costs allow enforcement authorities to populate more camera sites and to upgrade old-style cameras to improve enforcement.
